Transitional Kindergarten (TK)
Ages 4-5
St. Francis Preschool’s Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program is thoughtfully designed for children who turn 5 years old between September 2 and August 31. This program offers an enriched early childhood education experience, preparing students for a successful transition into traditional Kindergarten.
Our TK program is fully aligned with the Novato Unified School District’s instructional minutes and academic standards. The curriculum provides a balanced approach, blending foundational academic skills with hands-on learning and exploration. Students engage in whole-group instruction, small-group activities, and independent learning experiences that encourage both individual growth and collaboration.
Throughout the day, TK students also enjoy time with their preschool peers during recess, enrichment classes, and school-wide events, fostering a sense of community and teamwork.
Small Class Sizes
We offer a small, individualized program with a maximum of 15 children per class and two dedicated teachers. This nurturing setting is ideal for students who may benefit from a more intimate environment as they build confidence and adjust to the rhythms of school life.
Emotional Security
An environment in which children are able to explore and grow within their social & emotional development, with the gentle care and extra attention from a loving educator. Aiming to give children the time and space to grow at their own pace before heading into the big ‘pond’.
Teach to the individual
Offering a holistic approach to school readiness by providing an individualized curriculum for each child based on their developmental abilities. Incorporating a blended approach of methodologies such as play-based, emergent curriculum, inquiry-based, and so much more to meet the needs of diverse learning styles.

5-day (Monday - Friday*)
Full day (9:00 am - 2:00 pm, *Fridays early release at 12:00 pm)
Early Care (Optional)
Offered Monday - Friday for current Preschool and TK students
8:15 am - 8:45 or 9:00 am
Drop-ins available
Space is limited and enrollment will be on a first-come, first-served basis for regular and drop-in early care
After Care (Optional)
Offered Monday - Thursday for current Preschool and TK students
2:00pm -4:00 pm
Drop-ins available
Space is limited and enrollment will be on a first-come, first-served basis for regular and drop-in care.
