Preschool

Ages 2 ½ – 5

At St. Francis, our team of dedicated educators understands that a child’s development is multifaceted and deeply interconnected. We meet each child where they are, fostering growth through a holistic approach that supports their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. Individualized attention is at the heart of our practice, ensuring every child feels seen, supported, and empowered.

Our shared goal is to nurture empathetic, curious, and confident learners who find joy in discovery. By building this strong foundation in the early years, we aim to help children carry these traits with them throughout their lives. We are proud to partner with families, working together to support each child’s unique early learning journey.

Our preschool program follows the Novato Unified School District calendar. The school year runs from late August through mid-June, with optional camps offered during mid-winter break (February), spring break (April), and summer (July), based on availability.

Preparing children for the next step

Academic or school readiness skills (handwriting, cutting, symbol/shape/color recognition, etc.) are organically weaved into these play-based experiences at an age/ability appropriate level.

Growing Hearts and Minds

Social and emotional competence is emphasized within every aspect of our curriculum. It is through social interaction with peers and teachers that problem solving, emotional regulation and awareness, and a child’s development of self is advanced.

Play-based learning

Our play-based program allows children to discover the joy of learning by wondering, exploring, experimenting, and, of course, playing!
